Even though most of us say that the main thing we want is to 'be happy'. We often don't go to our emotional body and do the necessary work to create that reality. Happiness is an emotions right...
We'll often try everything else before going to our emotions. We'll try to get physically healthy, mentally healthy and even at times spiritually healthy before looking deep into our own emotions.
Because they can be painful. And we don't want to feel them.
Inner child work is the process of contacting, understanding, embracing and healing our inner child. Our inner child represents our first original self that entered into this world (our blueprint). It contains our capacity to experience wonder, joy, innocence, sensitivity and playfulness.
When we are forced to 'grow up', our inner child often gets left behind.
To avoid the pain, we often go about ignoring this part of ourselves, but it never goes away. Our inner child lives in our unconscious mind and influences how we make choices, respond to challenges, and live our lives.
Over the past few years I've placed more attention and awareness on my emotions. It's a slow process, at times painful, at times intense, at times enriching. Emotions are a ride, but that's the beauty of them. Although the mind often doesn't think so, the mind likes control, structure, order. So in order for me to allow my emotions freedom to be felt and expressed I've had to shift the balance away from my mind back into my emotions.
